How to Share your Story on the 1000 voices website

This tutorial video will take you through the steps involved in Sharing your story on our website.

It has been broken up into several sections so that you can just watch to the relevant parts, or you can watch to the full video.

Section 1 – Story Types

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
When you successfully login, you will be presented with your dashboard.
At the top of the page in the 'Post Types' box there is a list of different types of stories you may wish to share.
From the dashboard, you can create a text only, image and text, audio and text or video and text story,or a media gallery or you can add a resource to the resource list.
I'm going to create a story with Image and Text.

Section 2 – Adding an Image

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
I'm going to create a story with Image and Text.
First, enter the name of the story you wish to share in the "post title" text box.
Then add the image to your story by selecting the "set featured image" button.
Selecting this button will open another window titled "Set featured image".
Within this window you can add an image from your computer, from a URL, from the media library (which lists all images that have previously been uploaded to the website) or by embedding a URL.
I'm going to upload a new image for my story so I'll use the 'From Computer Tab' and use the 'Select Files' button to find the image I wish to upload - a nice picture of the red desert.
Once you have uploaded your image, you have to add details to it for usability and accessibility.
Please add as many different types of content as possible to allow people of all abilities to enjoy your story.
When adding media to your story, you have to provide a description as a minimum and the more descriptive you are the better. For example, if you were adding a video, a full transcript would be much better than a simple explaination of what the video is about.
You will have to save your changes before you can add the image into your story.
Once added to your story, you can edit your image by right clicking on it and selecting the picture image that comes up.

Section 3 – Adding Content

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Once added to your story, you can edit your image by right clicking on it and selecting the picture image that comes up.
From here you can edit a few things about your image such as size, title and caption.
Now that I've added my image I'm going to put some text into my story, details of the adventure that lead to my red desert picture.
Once your story is written, there are several other things that can be added to provide some more context to your story.
You can select the country the story is based in - or a latitude and longitude if you wish to be specific.
You can also add tags to your story.
You can add tags from the list of those existing - or you can add your own.
I'm going to add my own today - desert, adventure and travel.
Once you have written your story and added the country and tags, you can preview your story, or save it as a draft, if you're not ready for it to be published. If you're happy with it, select the 'publish' button.

Section 4 – Finding your Story

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Once you have written your story and added the country and tags, you can preview your story to see what it will look like, or save it as a draft if you're not ready for it to be published.
